I finally found an offline/online accounting tool that is compatible with multiple platforms, not just a smartphone app but also on PC. A tip for the developers: besides being able to search for images online, it would be great if manual uploads were possible. Additionally, having a template for importing Excel files, especially for banks that are not yet compatible, would be helpful, allowing for manual input in such cases.

Compliments to the Spendle app! Initially, I intended to use iBilly but stopped due to its very limited reporting and exporting capabilities. Spendle offers much better features in that regard.

After the demise of Grip, I spent some time searching for a worthy replacement. I came across this slightly less known app, and in my opinion, it's a top-notch product. It can do everything Grip could and much more :) Just a bit of a learning curve.

With Spendle you mainly work offline and your data is stored encrypted in your browser (indexedDB). To share your data across your other devices and keep a backup, synchronize your administration encrypted with your Spendle account. Only you can view your administration data with the self-chosen administration password *. Privacy is extremely important to Spendle and various measures have been taken to safeguard your privacy. For more information, see the privacy statement.

* Important: your administration password is used to encrypt your data. Keep this password carefully, because there is no way to recover it if you lose it.

Yes, you can share your Spendle administration by logging in with your Spendle account on another device. There, you can open, view, and edit your administration. Be mindful not to make changes at the exact same time. Spendle works offline and synchronizes your administration as encrypted data to your Spendle cloud account. This is similar to working with a Word document in Dropbox. If changes are made simultaneously before syncing, Spendle will prompt you to choose which version to load.

When connecting a PSD2 bank link, Spendle imports all transactions for the current year. After linking, you can update your transactions since the last transaction in your administration by using the update button. If you want to import older transactions, you can:

Click on the created PSD2 bank link and choose a longer period to import. The range depends on your bank.
Download a transaction file from your bank and import it by dragging the file into Spendle or uploading it in the "Import" tab.
If the file is not supported, you can create a custom definition or use this Excel template to import your existing transactions.

Most banks do not provide data for linked savings accounts. However, there is often a CSV export option that you can import. If not, you can manually create a savings account and periodically adjust the balance via the Balance correction link in the account details screen. Another option is to manually specify a booking account for transactions on the checking account, either manually or via a rule. To do this, click on the ellipsis menu in the transaction details screen in the upper right corner → book to account. If you specify the savings account there, a contra entry is booked to the specified savings account.

Spendle checks for duplicates when importing. Via the PSD2 connection, this is done based on the unique transaction ID. When importing CSV files, it checks if there is a transaction with the same account, date, and amount. Since the PSD2 connection sometimes uses the booking date as the date, duplicates may occur if you import an overlapping period.
To avoid duplicates, it's better not to import overlapping periods from PSD2 and CSV files.
If duplicates have occurred, you can set the filter special to possible duplicates in the transactions and manually delete any duplicates.

In a category, you can check that it involves a mutual booking by checking the "Transfer" toggle. Transactions with a mutual category are not included in result reports and charts, only in the balance. Mutual bookings can be used for transactions between your own savings or checking accounts or for significant expenses that you want to exclude from the results, such as buying a car or renovating.

The position indicates the status relative to your budget. If you have spent more than budgeted, it is negative. The position is determined based on the set position method, which works as follows:

Daily	The position relative to the budget is determined daily. Intended for categories with a daily recurring nature, such as groceries, miscellaneous.
Monthly	The position relative to the budget is calculated at the end of the month. Handy for monthly recurring categories such as rent, salary, mortgage, subscriptions, and clothing.
Yearly	The position is determined at the end of the year. Intended for categories that occur randomly throughout the year, such as holidays, hairdresser, and tax refunds. The budget is sliding with this method. For example, if no money is spent in January, the budget is distributed over the remaining months in that year. If the budget is exceeded before the end of the year, the exceeding amount is immediately included in the position.

If your license expires, it will no longer be possible to import new transactions. You can renew your license for a year whenever you want or export your data and cancel your account.
